What is this service?

  • This service offers quick access to counselling and an opportunity to address any issues that you may have at the time of your appointment.
  • Sessions are approximately 1 hour, but can be shorter, based on what you need.
  • During the sessions you will speak with a qualified counsellor.
  • You will review and sign the consent form prior to the session. If the session is via phone or virtual, you will be asked to verbally consent to receive the service.
  • The service is confidential and your information will not be shared unless you give us permission to do so. There are some exceptions to this that will be discussed with your counsellor.
  • The session will focus on what the family member or person wants to talk about. You will be supported to help identify what is most helpful to focus on.
  • Your needs and strengths will be focused on. The goal of the session is to find solutions and leave the session with a plan.
  • The session is meant to be a single session, but you can come in again, no questions asked! You make the choice around what you need.

What do I need to share before I talk to a therapist?

  • You will be asked for information about yourself, like your age or your child’s age, where you live in York Region and if you can consent to these services.
  • After the session you will receive an invitation to provide feedback. This will help us to know if you found the service useful and let us know how we are doing. It is also a great opportunity for us to know where we can be doing better. Your opinion is very important to us.

If you don’t see your concern listed above, please book a session here https://scheduler.zoom.us/yh-here-to-help or call us at 905-503-9561

The Here to Help phone line service is not a crisis line. If you are in crisis, please contact: 310-COPE (1-855-310-2673), call 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department.
